3 Ways to get Better Gas Mileage
We all are trying to cut costs where we can, why not behind the wheel? These effective driving tactics will help get you better fuel economy. Take a look at these 3 Ways to get Better Gas Mileage!
Drive Sensibly
Driving aggressively, such as speeding, rapid acceleration & braking, burns more gasoline. It can drop your fuel economy by 33% at highway speeds and 5% around town! Driving sensibly increases savings in all forms, not only with fuel economy but safer for you and others on the road.
Remove Excess Weight
Hauling cargo on your roof decreases your aerodynamics and causes drag, this in turn causes poor fuel economy. A large roof-top cargo can decrease fuel economy by ~2% to 8%! So if you are not using your roof-top cargo box, remove it for better gas mileage!
Avoid keeping unnecessary items in your car, especially heavy ones. An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your MPG by 1%.
Avoid Excessive Idling
Turning your engine off when you are parked can save you serious money. Idling can use a quarter to a half gallon of fuel per hour!*
- While limiting to about 10 engine starts per day, if you shutdown longer than 1 minute, you will save money. Be sure to drive at least 5 miles between start cycles to fully recharge your batter.
